Our second day of hiking was 20 km along the coast. The first part was a bit challenging, but nothing like the hike to Port Isaac. I think I was better prepared mentally. The plan was to buy our family a meal in Port Isaac in exchange for the drop off and pick up favour. However the weather wasn’t looking great for the second day so NosyNeighbour decided we’d get dropped off farther away.  I really should have checked the website. This is what I saw after we had finished :

The path between Trebarwith Strand and Port Isaac is especially long and difficult, with some steep descents into valleys and tough climbs up to the cliff tops again, especially beyond Bounds Cliff.

But what I thought it would be was a two hour stroll.

We didn’t have enough water or food. And no hiking poles for what was probably the most challenging walk I’ve done in years. The ups and downs were never ending.  The sun was hot. The gorse was thick in spots.  Yes, the views were incredible but I couldn’t look at them most of the time because vertigo would creep in.

I was so happy when we finally arrived in Port Isaac. Especially when the view from our window was of the house of my favourite TV doctor: none other than Doc Martin.
