Yesterday turned out to be a beautiful day. I spent the morning throwing snowballs in the backyard and watching our one-year-old cat chase them, thinking they were toys. Hours of fun. In the afternoon I walked along Wellington towards downtown to meet an old friend on her walk home from work.

I wanted to see if Tennessy Willems was open and pop into Wabi Sabi and Bija. And yes, Tennessy Willems is now open. I picked up the take out menu and will scan and post later. It will definitely be worth a try to see if it should be added to our repertoire of neighbourhood food establishments (see list at left). Read the rest of this entry »


Interesting article from the Centretown News Online that talks about a new Google service available to Ottawa cyclists. It’s an odd time of year to be adding the feature, but maybe they figure the die hard cyclists will update it over the winter. It will be interesting to see how many cyclists report problems or recommend new routes. Here it is in its entirety (because you never know when things disappear off the net):

As Ottawa undertakes new initiatives to improve bike paths and lanes in the city, Internet juggernaut Google is helping make the routes easier to navigate.

The company recently launched a new feature from Google Maps that allows users to map bike routes by entering a place of origin and destination. Users are offered different routes that are most convenient for cyclists, including roads with bike lanes or bike paths. Read the rest of this entry »

Recently, the mainstream media has been reporting on the sentencing of the Royal Bank fire bomber. Just about every outlet has reported that he was a retired civil servant. Hello?
