We had been saying it all summer, but hadn’t done it yet. Today was the last weekend for Bike Days, meaning the parkways along the canal, river and in the Gatineau Park are closed to cars. I have to say that “adopting” Anna for the evening was a good move. Originally we did it to get the free blanket being given out to “families” (knowing that usually a “family” must have a “child”). After a two-hour hike in the Gatineaus (Ridge Road & the Skyline loops), we took a walk in the neighbourhood. We walked down the construction zone on Wellington through Hintonburg to Giant Tiger and spotted a couple of developments.

Summer hasn’t been good so far. Dave Phillips says Ottawa has had less rain than normal, but it’s had more rain days than usual. Go figure. But if you live here you know that almost every day you need to bring your umbrella. It’s been a pain for hanging up laundry, especially now that I’m downtown.

I used to be able to bring it in at lunch. But then I had a job I really didn’t like. Like real estate, work location is important, but if you can’t stand the house, why buy it? Read the rest of this entry »

Yesterday was supposed to be a relatively sunny day. But instead of going for a bike ride, we opted to do a quick hike in the Gatineau Park instead. We started near Old Chelsea, at the bottom of Ridge Road, and hiked up to near where the Skyline loop starts. It’s easy to keep pace when mozzies are chasing you! Read the rest of this entry »
