Last night we set off to look for a new deadbolt for our front door. Because we decided to keep our original wood door, we’ve had some challenges as we turn the former porch into a front foyer.

Our first stop was Home Depot, but they had nothing that was shallow enough. So we set off for Preston Hardware. Unfortunately they were closed, but it did mean a drive through the ‘hood. Wow, lots of changes. So many in fact, that I took the camera with me for a walk this morning.

Walking along Wellington Street heading east …

  • Alteriors is closed for renovations, but you can follow them on twitter.
  • Boutique Mystelle … never really thought it fit into the neighbourhood. Now there’s a For Lease sign and a big liquidation sign. How long until it’s gone?
  • One of Ottawa’s busiest Sunoco gas stations is becoming a PetroCan. It’s located at Parkdale and Wellington.
  • Fabgear 64 has moved to the south side of Wellington and Uproar will be opening December 1 in its former location across the street.
  • Wellington Wholesale Seafood is now open.
  • Marshall’s Fitness is now open beside Wabi Sabi.
  • Alphasoul cafe is still a work in progress, but it does have a blog.
  • Peek-a-boo toys is now open. But do we really need another child-centric store in the hood?
  • Ottawa Pole Fitness is now open on Somerset @ Bayview.
